Cabo Pulmo
Overview of Diving in Cabo Pulmo
To the south of the Baja California Peninsula is Cabo Pulmo, a small population of former fishermen who in recent years changed their trade to dedicate themselves to offering diving services, motivated to protect their resources that are now part of the Cabo Pulmo National Park. Thanks to the protection of the area, the populations of fish and marine life have regenerated up to 400% since the declaration of protection of the area making the dives here simply unmatched.
Summer and fall are the best times to dive: warm water with excellent visibility, a peaceful blue sea with huge clouds of fish. You will not believe that the whole sea used to be like this. The area has great marine biodiversity, adorning an interesting geographical distribution with underwater formations that offer diving conditions classified among the best in the world.
Large animals can be seen from giant manta rays, whale sharks, hammerhead sharks, schools of porpoises, sea lions and turtles. The Cabo Pulmo reef is of unmatched beauty and extreme importance. It is made up of multiple branches of hard coral, unique in the Sea of Cortez and one of only three living reefs in North America. A jewel that attracts divers and tourists for its beauty and that needs to be preserved by all.
